"Boots" Mallory. What a name! I half expected some tough guy! I first came across Ms. Mallory the other day in two Lux Radio Theater productions, both starring James Cagney (whom I featured yesterday). Anyway, turns out that she was married to Cagney's brother. Looking at the images you post here always makes me want to look up things. Thanks for that!
Hi Harry, I thank you for stoping by and visiting. "Boots" Mallory is quite the name isnt it? Boots was also married to the actor with the crushed velvet voice, Herbert Marshall.
Boots was also a model and posed for the well-known pinup artist, Rolf Armstrong. There's a widely circulated photo of her sitting for him outdoors in the buff. Armstrong's wearing a ridiculous get-up, trying to look macho
Aha! I do remember Nina Mae McKinney, the subject of a marvelous anecdote in Louise Brooks' "Lulu in Hollywood." I like it so much I will not spoil it by repetition, the punchline is priceless.
I had never seen a picture of her before; McKinney was extremely cute!

Hi Jack,
Thats very interesting, I didnt know about the Rolf Armstrong photo. I sure wouldnt mind seeing it - I'll have to look out for it.
I think there's a copy of it for sale right now on eBay. But I've seen scans floating around the internet, so it's not a particularly rare image.
Thanks Jack!

I think the anecdote is in the chapter titled Marion Davies' niece - the one about Pepi Lederer throwing a party for the cast members of Hallelujah.
I wish Pepi Lederer made more films. She displayed quite an appealing screen presence with a small part in Marion Davies' Her Cardboard Lover.
Nina Mae was very cute. I remember first seeing her in a seamy pre-coder called Safe In Hell.
Heres another photo of Nina.
