I'm sure it wasn't you image editor! Print pieces back in the day could get pretty lurid with the color. I found some 1939 newspapers in my attic and was amazed to see full color advertising supplements.
I usually go with an auto adjust that sometimes makes a drastic change in the image. Yeah, you're right about the color. After looking at some older lobby cards, there seems to be quite a few actresses painted with rosy red cheeks.
Whoever colorized these went nutty with the blush.
