Ahh, it’s great to be back (after a month offline). Thanks for sharing these lobby card images. They are somewhat misleading, though, don’t you think? They make the sordid and saucy pre-code melodrama of a Torch Singer torn between liberty and love look quite tame and respectable.

Misleading indeed, and not by the lady. It's odd you should mention that, because now that I think of it, I can't remember seeing many racy lobby cards...I'm sure they exist, though. I wonder if lobby cards were toned down because the theatre owners wanted them for their lobby display? - although that wouldn't explain why there were probably some racy one sheets on display in the theatre front.
