My, these images are so bright and clean, they leave quite a different impression of Francis as "Spot White" (or "Spot Cash"), don't they? Leisen was a bundle of nerves, I guess; despite his great commercial success, he never earned much respect as a filmmaker--unlike Curtiz, who was a million miles from Casablanca here.
These are some of the nicest Kay Francis lobby cards I've come across.
The guy resposible for Murder at the Vanities sure gets my respect, anyway.
