These are great! I especially like the first one. I always feel sad when I look at pictures of William Powel because he wouldn't marry her, poor Jean Harlow. At least that's how the legend goes, that he thought he was too old to marry a bomb shell. Does that make any sense to you at all? The bomb sheel thing was merely her movie persona. If they were in a relationship would he know she wasn't like that?
I love Harlow close-ups. Ive heard a few stories about the Powell/Harlow relationship. I think there may have been several reasons. A few stories are: Powell was reluctant because Jean already had 3 marriages in the bag before she was 25 years old. Powell also felt Jean's Mother and stepfather had a unhealthy influence over Jean, and that there would always be problems as long as she was under that influence. Ive also heard he had an actors ego and didn't want to be known as Mr. Jean Harlow. Also, his divorce from Carole Lombard left a bad taste in his mouth and he didn't want to make the same mistake of marrying a very popular celebrity, as he was somewhat consevative, and didn't want to lead the typical celebrity lifestyle. He was terribly hurt when she died, and perhaps he felt also felt terribly guilty for not marrying her.
