Ooh, a vintage magazine cover, goody. That "Um Esc." is short for "Um Escudo," meaning "One Escudo." The Escudo was the old Portuguese currency, and reamined so until very recently with the arrival of the European Euro.
Besides Cinefilo, I have a magazine called Film Selectos, which also has very nice front and back covers. The price is not in Escudos though, but has 50cts, which must be centavos?
I believe that must be a Spanish magazine, because neither of those words are in Portuguese, and I never heard of it. I know their former currency used to be called peseta.
